Ok what have I been up to in the last 2 weeks:

Last night went out with a gf Catherine to paint the town red. Had a ball.
Still searching for a car. Think I am actually going to buy a Porsche as they are so ridiculously cheap here and it fits my budget. Just need to look at running costs.
My neighbour Jess is a total sweetheart. He does everything for me. Like texts me in the mornings before work and tells me he has made me a blueberry smoothie. When I get drunk and cry to him that I am homesick, he looks after me. This has happened twice. Not planning on a third haha. But he is such a sweet soul and I'd be lost without him as a friend.
I am absolutely LOVING my job. I just feel really good at it. People leading and mgmt is defintely me. I've currently got one employee who's a bit lazy, and so that has been challenging, He called in sick 2 times this week and came in a few hours late 2 of the other days this week. I am managing him and monitoring him and doing everything text book right. But you can't motivate someone, they need to motivate themselves.. so we'll see, I am enjoying the challenge.
I am starting boot camp this week. They are having a 'sexy in 6 weeks' comp which i am joining, although i will only have 4 weeks until Greece - i can't tell you how excited I am!!
All in all I'm having a lot of fun. Everything is new and fun. Places to go and new people to meet.. I'm revelling in my new life. Although it's the hardest thing I've ever done. Oh, which reminds me of a story. I ran out of gas (becoming american already) as i was driving to work this week.. my hire car (brand new car) had a faulty gas light.. so anyway.. no one would help me. There were slight tears. My blackberry had no charge. Then 3 mexicans came to my rescue. Then of course asked me out on a date. He couldn't really speak english, so was impressed by his courage. :)

2. Boys love me. (human! only!) Man, it's So easy to meet guys here. I need some chic friends though! I've met a new chic called Deb who's just relocated from LA, so we're going to a new cool restaurant called Digestif next Tuesday.. so that should be fun.

4. I've met another friend called Hart who's very loaded and lives in a palace. It remains to be seen if he is good quality friend or just a dick.


5. I am getting my $800 back from purchasing my Blackberry, and work is paying for mine, and I'm getting 3 for my fam. YYAYAAYY!


6. My work friend, minga, from UK is hopefully coming this weekend for 2 weeks! yay

one, last stupid decision

my boss pissed me off today.

when i got my job promotion and pay rise, my boss said that he would convert my aussie pay amount to US dollars, at the best exhange rate.

now, i knew, and so did he (because I showed him the forecast) that the exhange rate was going to change a lot.

it's gone from 66 cents to the USD to 77 cents, and it will continue to go up until it reaches 92 cents in dec.

he told me today that he's using the 66 cents calculation because he thought my pay might go up a grand or two, but not 11 per cent. He said that I would no longer be in the right salary bracket for my role if that happened.

I don't care. We made a deal and you broke it.

I will not forget this. Grrr. I better get a good bonus.

I think i am also pissed off because (and i told him) that i found out the crazy relocation deals some people got in the last couple of years. They got their place and car paid for and 3 trips home a year.

Now I did enter into this knowing I wasn't getting a relocation package, and it was for my career progression, but I can't help but be pissed off.

When I told my boss some of the deals I had heard about, he told me about a good one he got once! I said 'don't tell me that'. And then he said, 'yes amex has made some stupid decisions in the past.' i said 'can you please make just one last stupid decision?'
